Crossposted to knitting
Ahso. I bought myself a treat a few weeks back. Four ounces (about 280 yards, according to the label) of "Little Lola," 100% merino in the Toni Morrison
colorway. It seems sportweight to me. The trick, however, is figuring out what to do with this lovely stuff.
I was thinking a scarf, more for decoration than warmth. Maybe rippled, maybe ribbed.. I don't want it to curl. I don't want it to be boring. I also don't want it to be too flashy. I'm thinking elegant. But I don't know what I DO want to do with it. Purchasing more isn't an option - this was an impulse splurge, and I can't afford to get any more, so 280 yards is it.
Anybody have any suggestions? I'm not dead set on a scarf, that was just my first instinct. Other options are of course welcome. :)

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If it is, join invent_improve
and tell everyone about it.
This covers everything from re-designing knitting needles to inventing a new way to water plants. I'd love to see a ton of people here adding ideas and thoughts, so spread the word...
I started off with my complaint on knitting needles from Saturday's Stitch and Bitch. Bring on the topics!

And I made a super-cute hat for my godbaby.
Now I'm just trying to find a decent worsted-weight/chunky yarn bootie pattern, so I can make a pair of booties to match. Or is it just not possible?
Saturday. Noonish. RSVP please. :)

Can you reccommend a good craft supply store, preferably not on the East Side? The only one I know of is the JoAnn's Fabrics up on Aurora and, um... 150th or therabouts. There used to be one near there, on Greenwood I think, but they went out of business and the building now houses a piano store. I'm particularly interested in any craft stores that have dollmaking stuff.
Another quick question: would anybody be terribly offended if I brought My Little Ponies
to work on for the stitch & bitch? I've been working on a couple, and they're pretty much the only crafty things I have going at the moment. :] Current Mood: busy

and my personal journal
My mom is in the process of buying a house in Bellevue. She's going to be moving her stuff up in mid-December, as well as her three cats. She'll be here for a good chunk of December, but right now she's planning on working (back in CA) a good chunk of January. Her brother was going to live in the hosue for a month, but that is probably going to fall through. So she is looking for someone who would be interested in staying in the new place with her cats for most of January.
Her main criteria are that you don't smoke in/around the house, and that you don't trash the place... and that you like cats. She'd prefer to have someone I know and can vouch for, but friend-of-a-friend is probably OK. It's also possible to have someone just do this during the week and we could take over on weekends (when we wouldn't have to get Philip to school) if that would be preferable. I haven't talked with her about how much she'd be willing to pay for this yet. The house is approximately at SE 29th St. and 162st Ave. SE. Pretty close to I-90 at Eastgate. There are bus lines along 161st to Crossroads mall and the Eastgate park&ride.
If her boss continues to piss her off as much as he did yesterday, though, she'll retire a couple of months early and this will all be moot...

There's like 22 or 23 people watching this community.
Only like....eight EVER say anything.
Can we have a soundoff or an introduction or something from the rest of you, since technically speaking I've sort of invited all of you to my house and would like to know a little about the group I'm addressing? Who are ya, what craft do you do, when are you gonna start talking to us :)
Put 'em here in comments, please, so's we can kinda keep 'em together...I hope this works. :P Current Mood: hopeful and chatty

Did we ever set a time
for this little hoe-down tomorrow? I assume afternoon-ish, but I can never tell. If I don't make it, blame the car and send someone for rescue.
